FastRoot OMS™: Operations Management Database (OMDB)
|
FastRoot OMS™ automates the process, systems and network operations for your on-demand software business. The FastRoot OMS™ system is based on best practices of ITIL (IT Infrastructure Library) followed by large enterprises, but tailored to the unique needs for an on-demand software vendor.
At the core of ITIL best practices is a central repository of information related to all of the components of an information system. Sometimes referred to as a CMDB, or configuration management database, this repository is really a data store for knowledge management of the IT operations.
Run Book Database
The Run Book serves as a real-time compendium of operations and engineering information about the on-demand software application and environment. - Store up-to-date information on the application’s design and engineering, controls and procedures, network requirements and hardware support (including specific equipment, vendors, contacts, warranties, etc.).
- Generate Run Books on-demand in electronic or print form to bring all stakeholders up to speed quickly in the event of an emergency or critical failure.
Assurance and Compliance Database
On-demand vendors must document and follow best practices in IT operations, and easily measure those practices against leading audit standards and regulations... be transparent to your stakeholders, and assure them with the reliability and key performance metrics you track in IT operations. - Document compliance with your best practices.
- Retain historical and real-time benchmark data on key performance metrics, including any failures in IT operations.
- Store and quickly generate reporting data from security and reliability tests.
- Capture compatible data for regulatory compliance, and produce reports for leading audit standards relevant to your customer base (COBIT, Sarbanes-Oxley, HIPPA, PCI, SAS70, etc).
Asset and Configuration Database
Document all IT assets (systems, applications, data exchange, networks, etc) upon which your on-demand application depends. Control risk by documenting change based on the interdependencies within the environment, and minimize the possibility of human error. - Track detailed information on all assets in your IT service.
- Centrally document all configuration data, and automatically update based on changes to your environment.
- Use for informed change management, and as a foundation for system and network automation.
Reporting and Data Exchange Module
The OMDB can be used to create an almost limitless number of user-defined reports, which may automatically link to and populate reports in other applications. An intuitive user-interface enables any OMDB user to access relevant information and display it in screen-views and reports that are most germane to the specific stakeholder.
Information contained in the OMDB may be linked to external client databases, via XML data exchange protocols. These links enable real-time synchronization of multiple files running under disparate database environments.
